2013-14 Hunting Wrap-up

We had a productive year hunting during the 2013-14 hunting season. It was the first year with the food plots in place and the mast crop failure during the Fall really caused the deer and turkey to use the fields extensively.

All together we took eight deer (six doe and two bucks) and three turkey off of the property. The 2013 DMAP report is located here. For comparative purposes, the report for all properties enrolled in the DMAP program in Buckingham County is located here.

Chris Owens got us off to a great start with a turkey during the youth turkey day in September

Herb started us off right with an early season harvest in the Tirrell Field of a doe with his new crossbow.

Jennifer, hunting with Mike from the box blind in the Big Field, harvested this doe with her crossbow in late October

Mike took this doe during muzzleloader season — Mike took this doe on November 2 during muzzleloader season

On November 22, Mike scored the biggest buck of the year from the box blind in the big field. Nice eight!

Mike scored this turkey on December 2 near the Tirrell Field

Mike also scored a turkey during the Spring Gobbler season in 2014. Is the caption “Two Turkeys” too easy?
