Other than Dave’s nice buck, the big story for this trip was the bear encounters. When we checked the cameras, a bear had taken down the ground blind in the Bonus Field (see animated gif below, click for larger). Later, Hugh had three bear sightings (although it could be seeing the same bear three times) one of which was before first light in and around the New Field. Later, a bear tore up the seat of the Bad Boy buggy and later put its paws on the ladder of the Redneck blind in the New Field while Mike was in the blind!.

Other wildlife sightings:

  • We saw deer in the Big Field, the New Field, and from the Goodwin property
  • Hugh missed a deer from 100yds in the Big Field

Projects Included:

  • Planted 6 persimmon (2 each of Prok, 100-46, and so called ‘Deer Magnet’; the trees are from England’s Orchard Nursery in KY) with Duane, Mike and David

If you consider an unsuccessful hunt to be a waste of time, then the true meaning of the chase eludes you all together.
